The clear to whitish color fluid of the lymph contains different types of immune fighting cells. The cells that are the most important with tattoo removal are macrophages, the scavengers of the immune system. They collect worn-out cells and debris as well as create an immune response when necessary to fight infection. The enzymes within it destroy the unfriendly pathogens.
Scientific articles have been published on ink particles collecting in lymph nodes in people who have tattoos. The collection of these particles is due to the large size of the ink molecule which is unable to be moved or processed by the lymphatic system and thereby lodges in these collections of lymphatic tissue. Q- switched laser procedures create smaller particle sizes that are less likely to be trapped.
The tattoo removal laser creates micro-particles. As the ink is “released”, these micro-particles are small enough to be essentially mopped up by the macrophages traveling to the lymph nodes, where filtering occurs. As more ink will travel through the lymphatic system during the tattoo removal procedure, optimizing the lymphatic system DOES mean optimizing removal. Clients with a lot of ink to remove can potentially feel tired or fatigued as well as itchy as their body tries to process it. It is always good practice to break up a large tattoo and therefore treat it in parts, and often schedule repeat treatments further apart.
Unlike the cardiovascular system, the lymphatic system has no central pump. The volume of lymph is large and is therefore slow-moving and sporadic due to its lack of any pump. 4 to 5 liters of lymph a day flows through the body so keeping your lymph healthy and moving is very important, not just for ink movement but the whole health of the body so that it is better able to fight disease. The lymphatic vessels are part of the circulatory system, all of which flow through the liver and kidneys for detoxification before bodily excretions result. So, yes, eventually you poop and pee that ink out!
Most clients experience pain. The pain occurs when the laser comes into contact with the tattoo ink and usually subsides within a few minutes of treatment completion. We cool your skin before and during each treatment with a Zimmer Cryo 6 Chiller to lessen the pain. The Zimmer Cryo 6 is an integrated cooling system that maximizes patient comfort while minimizing side effects. It won the Editor’s Choice Award for Best Stand Alone Epidermal Cooling Device from Aesthetic Trends and Technologies, and continues to be a favorite of clinics throughout the world.
It only takes SECONDS TO MINUTES to provide a laser treatment.
The number of treatments is unique to you and your tattoo. We ask questions to determine the age, ink color, and size of your tattoo. All this information guides us in putting together a treatment plan for you.
When you get a tattoo, ink is deposited at different depths of your skin. Each laser treatment is designed to hit a specific color at a specific depth. Each pass of the laser breaks up these ink particles and speeds up the body’s elimination of the tattoo itself.
There are minimal risks and side effects associated with laser tattoo removal. You risk infection, changes in skin pigmentation, blistering, bleeding, ghost images, or permanent scarring at the site.
